This is the soundtrack to the Walt Disney motion picture that attributes new songs from Patti LaBelle with Joss Stone, Barnaked Females, 5 For Battling and more. Disney. 2005.
This soundtrack provides a pretty normal combine of new tunes, previous chestnuts, and excerpts from the score (below by John Debney). On the new tip, Joss Stone and Patti LaBelle engage in an overheated battle of the divas on CD opener "Stir It Up," a bouncy piece of fluff that seems more like Aretha Franklin circa "Freeway of Love" than basic soul. Other originals include Barenaked Ladies' "One Minor Slip" (this movie's answer to Counting Crows' "Accidentally in Love" from Shrek two) and the Cheetah Girls' peppy-but-bland go over of "Shake Your Tail Feather." But the true highlights are the tunes carried out by the movie's vocal forged, which includes Joan Cusack, Garry Marshall, Zach Braff, Steve Zahn, and Amy Sedaris. Their group go over of Elton John and Kiki Dee's "Don¹t Go Breaking My Heart," for instance, seems as if fifty percent of them have been drunk in the recording studio (and this is intended as a compliment.) Braff's a cappella version of "We Are the Champions" is smashing and Cusack and Zahn's get on the Spice Girls' "Wannabe" is entirely demented. The youngsters will chuckle their dad and mom will chuckle even more challenging for entirely distinct reasons. --Elisabeth Vincentelli
